It is also important to note that a whistle was blown to halt play as a result of the altercation and prior to Chris Porter depositing the puck in the Jets unattended net with .01 seconds on the game clock. As a result of the whistle stopping play the goal was not allowed to stand. A "ceremonial face-off" is no longer required to complete the game when player aggression such as this takes place just prior to final horn.
