In the offseason http://www.theramslockerroom.com/authentic-orlando-pace-jersey , the Chiefs. The speculation as to why a 25-year old, two-time Pro Bowl CB was available was that his attitude and “me first” mentality got him moved out of KC after clashing with the coaching staff. Rams fans (and generally most across the league) were nonetheless super excited. It’s not everyday you get a 25-year old star in the league, and even better without a 1st-round pick at that.Fast forward to today. Nine games into the 2018 NFL season, and, for whatever reason, Peters has struggled severely. Why?Could part of it be attributed to injury? Maybe. Is it that he isn’t used to or doesn’t fit the scheme? Maybe.Did we simply expect too much from Peters? Maybe. All fair questions, but the Rams need to figure out a way to help Peters reach the potential he’s capable of. Now, it doesn’t obviously just fall on the staff. At the end of the day, you can only help a player so much, He still needs to be able to perform on his own. But the stats from PFF highlight what kind of a year he’s had:Week 1:6 targets, 3 receptions allowed, 50% catch rate, 25 yards allowed, 0 touchdowns allowed, 1 interception, 1 touchdown scoredWeek 2:2 targets Womens Ethan Westbrooks Jersey , 1 reception allowed, 50% catch rate, 0 yards allowed, 0 touchdowns allowed,Week 3:3 targets, 2 receptions allowed, 66.7% catch rate, 69 yards allowed, 1 touchdown allowedWeek 4:8 targets, 7 receptions allowed, 87.5% catch rate, 103 yards allowed, 1 touchdowns allowedWeek 5:6 targets, 5 receptions allowed, 83.3% catch rate, 83 yards allowed Deacon Jones Jersey , 3 touchdowns allowed, 1 penaltyWeek 6:2 targets, 2 receptions allowed, 100% catch rate, 16 yards allowed, 0 touchdowns allowed, 2 penaltiesWeek 7:0 targets, 0 receptions allowed, 0% catch rate, 0 yards allowed, 0 touchdowns allowedWeek 8:11 targets, 7 receptions allowed, 63.6% catch rate, 149 yards allowed, 0 touchdowns allowedWeek 9:15 targets, 12 receptions http://www.theramslockerroom.com/authentic-sean-mannion-jersey , 80% catch rate, 211 yards allowed, 1 touchdown allowedAnd here’s how PFF graded his coverage week-to-week heading into Sunday:Obviously, many of the games haven’t been pretty, but Peters hasn’t been terrible in every game. So at least we’ve got some positives to hold onto. I’m not exactly sure what the solution is either. Maybe the Rams can shade a safety to his side and help him over the top. Maybe the return of CB Aqib Talib will allow the Rams to focus on Peters’ inconsistencies in coverage and offer him more help. Maybe Peters regains full health and something changes for him.At this point, it’s even fair to argue what this could mean for Peters’ future. He’s likely to demand top-of-the-line cornerback money, but does his play warrant it? Should the Rams feel comfortable enough to hand it to him? Next year will be his last year under contract with the Rams at a $9m cap hit with no guarantees outside of injury. The questions remain unanswered. But what we do know for certain is that Peters, the star-studded cornerback with a legendary turnover pace that the Rams made a blockbuster trade for, needs to perform better. After riding a two game losing streak, the Los Angeles Rams returned to their early-season winning ways with a big 31-9 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Both the offense and defense were in firm control all game, with DT Aaron Donald breaking multiple records. Donald set the all-time single-season defensive tackle sack record at 19.5 sacks, he also broke the all-time Rams single-season sack record of 19 which was set by DE Robert Quinn.Let’s revisit the matchups to watch:DT Aaron Donald vs LG Will HoldenLast week’s matchup to watch:I guess this turned out to be correct, because Aaron Donald did in fact break the sack record of 18. Not only that, but he broke the Rams’ single-season sack record of 19 as well. Donald is now up to 19.5 sacks on the season, and with a monster game against the San Francisco 49ers, he can threaten the all-time single-season sack record of 22.5 Womens Aaron Donald Jersey , set by Michael Strahan.RB C.J. Anderson vs Cardinals’ front-7Last week’s matchup to watch:C.J. Anderson had a fantastic performance today with 20 carries for 167 yards and a touchdown. Anderson came in on three or so days of practice and averaged a tremendous 8.4 yards-per-carry in the contest. Anderson ran through relatively large holes, but his power and vision are undeniable. If the game was close in score, there’s a good shot Anderson breaks 200 rushing yards in the game. He was ultimately benched at the end of the game to conserve his body moving forward. Sunday was a fantastic first impression for Anderson with RB Todd Gurley inactive for the game.QB Jared Goff vs Cardinals’ secondaryLast week’s matchup to watch:Jared Goff wasn’t asked to do much in the game as the rushing attack was spectacular, though Goff did have a few pinpoint accurate passes and third down conversions. Goff and Woods had a solid connection riding through the game, and TE Gerald Everett was targeted six times throughout the game. Goff needs to do a better job protecting the ball as he had another fumble, though this one wasn’t as egregious as the last few.LT Andrew Whitworth vs OLB Chandler JonesLast week’s matchup to watch:Chandler Jones was absolutely invisible in the contest, meaning Andrew Whitworth performed fantastically. Not only that, but the ground game had 250 yards rushing, meaning the entire offensive line performed well.WR Robert Woods vs CB Patrick PetersonLast week’s matchup to watch:Robert Woods was the featured receiver on the day as he was targeted a team-leading seven times. Woods translated that into six receptions for 89 receiving yards and a touchdown. Not only that, but he gained another 15 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on two rushing attempts.Though the Rams played against a bad opponent, they had a strong bounce-back performance after two lackluster weeks. The Rams will finish their regular season facing off against another division rival in the San Francisco 49ers.
